{here}

So I gave in...I got a twitter for my etsy store because people keep telling me its good to have it. We'll see how it goes.

You should go check it out.

And while you're at it, I'm adding new items at my store. Excuse the photos; I'm in the middle of a transistion.
Also, another important news item for my etsy store is that I am going to be launching a biweekly email newsletter which will include new items, behind the scenes, and special deals.  If you would like to be in on it, email me {mailto:%7BAbbieCLee@gmail.com}

New Year New Hair

Photobucket

{here}

So I had been saying for a while that I LOVE short hair and that I wanted to cut off my hair.  Here's a bit of the background:

When I moved up to Baltimore, hair at my chin, it was chillier than I was used to, I decided to try out long hair for a while.  By New Years of 2009, I had hair to my shoulders {remember, I have a long neck, so this was a feat.} and I gave myself an ultimatum: I had to try it out for one year, go through a winter, spring, summer, and fall with it to see if I really liked having long hair.  Well, there were some things I DID like about it.  And there were things I didn't.

Liked:
My stand-by hair style turned into a chignon {either swept to the side or in the back} that I put up when I hair was wet, so by the end of the day or the next day when I took out the bobby-pins I had this beautiful curly mane.
Bangs.  I sported those layered, straight across bangs like a pro.
Cool hairstyles.  One thing I regret is not trying it out more, like braiding cool styles.  I can hardly french braid never mind my own hair, so that was partially the problem.

Disliked:
Tangled easily
I have ALOT of hair, so it took forever to wash {refer above}
Got caught in things.
Stuck to my neck when I slept, was always itchy.
Was hard to manage with lots of layers
Limits your Halloween costume capabilites {I'm sorry, dressing up as Bonnie Parker is much cooler than Brigitte Bardot, which is who I sorta was}
Always in the way when I was sewing.
Etsy pictures didn't look good with my hair down.  I think my long hair looked nice when I was in action, but not in portraits, it just looked very untamed.

Anyway, I'm loving my hair and so excited to try new things out with it!

A Little Goodbye to 2009

{this lovely photo is by pony_tail on flickr}

Dear 2009,

You were hard. In January I came reluctant to Baltimore for a perminate stay after some teary goodbyes in Florida. I graduated high school on my own, which was hard, but I got it out of the way.

You brought many new people into my life, whom I now love. But if you were to say in January 2009 that all of my friends would be 8 years older, I wouldn't have believed you. Their years above me brought wisdom to my life, and suddenly I didn't feel so bad that I didn't fit in in public school.

Along with friends, I accumulated lots of things. My once bare room with IKEA furniture that is not mine soon filled with the memories and things I started to collect. Photos of silly adventures, and trinkets from the antique store.

Even though I now have to find places for all of my things {I've weeded out the crap} in the most creative ways, I look at bookshelves {mine} stuffed full of fabric and ribbon and start to finally feel I have a place.

I'm not just an empty IKEA room anymore. I am much more than that. I am unique and have a point of view.

Thanks for all you taught me 2009, and I can't wait for 2010.

Love,
Abbie

Confession #12: I never believed in Santa

Photobucket

{This picture is from contrarymary's photostream on flickr.}

My mother had a problem lying to her children, so she told us the truth.  She just thought there were too many plot holes in the whole Santa thing, like how come Jimmy doesn't get has many presents as Tim even though he is better behaved?  Besides, she wanted us to appreciate the gift giving experience family should have and remember was Christmas is truly about.

Any Christmas traditions you skipped out on while growing up?  What about any non-conformity you do these days?

Weekly Etsy Finds: Ahoy, Sister! {Christmas Shopping List 2009}

My future sister-in-law, the fiance of a USNA mid, she has mastered the honorary nautical style.  I picked these whimsically nautical items as a metephore to welcome her aboard the Lee family ship!  Any sister-in-law, future sister-in-law, or brother's girlfriend gifts in need?  This theme is perfect if you don't know her style like I know Bethany's.  I think all girls have a bit of the coast in them.

I <3 Zooey + Emily

Photobucket

Last night was an episode many Zooey Deschanel fans have been waiting for, and it was not a disspointment at all.  Zooey guest stared in the Christmas episode of Bones last night as Emily's long lost second cousin.  The lampshading comment from both Bones's father and Booth about them looking like sisters made it better, not cheesy or gimiky,  but about the message the episode was trying to send: family.  Yay for weird family members {Zooey liked to quote Ben Franklin instead of carrying normal conversation} and double yay for the many wise words Bones had to say during the episode.

If you missed it, check out Fox.com.

Cheers!
And Merry Christmas!

Confession #11: I really missed blogging. Also, a few updates

Photobucket

{This photo is by welcome, ghosts on flickr.}

I know, I know...It's been MONTHS since I have made a peep on here, and to be honest, I MISSED IT!  It was always so nice to write random blurbs and find the perfect picture to go with it.  But because each post takes about 30 minutes-1 hour out of my day, my school would have suffered if I continued.

Speaking of school, the semester is coming to an end which means I will have a month of break.  A month of getting back into the gyst and posting posts I wrote but never had time to finalize (I will postdate them) for a nice record.

A few things in my life that deserve updating:
Two Etsy shops.  One is relatively new and is still being worked on, the other is being updated with a new item everyday.

Sorry for the choppy-ness of this post.  I still need to get back into my usual groove.

Cheers!
Abbie
